The Institute of Tender Care and Geriatrics (Nigerian Institute for Home Care & Geriatrics) was born out of a shared vision between two passionate directors who recognized the urgent need for professional, compassionate elder care in Nigeria. Their commitment to transforming geriatric care inspired the involvement of four additional directors, each bringing unique expertise and dedication to the mission. With decades of combined experience in public health, medicine, medical sociology, nursing, and community development, these directors came together with one goal: to create a center where caregivers are trained not just in skills, but in compassion.
Together, this founding team laid the groundwork for a center of excellence that trains caregivers to serve with empathy, skill, and cultural sensitivity. Today, the Institute stands as a beacon of hope for older adults and a hub for innovation in geriatric education and advocacy. The Institute is envisioned as a center of excellence for training caregivers, with a strong emphasis on tenderness, empathy, and professionalism. It aims to raise the standard of geriatric care in Nigeria and beyond.
Driven by the belief that every elderly person deserves dignity, respect, and quality care, the founding team designed a curriculum that blends global best practices with local realities. From its inception, the Institute has stood as a beacon of hope, empowering caregivers, advocating for the elderly, and transforming the future of geriatric care one compassionate hand at a time.
